Through our PEMA products and our holistic approach to ‘Living in Harmony’ we strive to promote a healthy and balanced diet thereby improving the general nutrition of our society. Our goal is to encourage the joy of living healthily, following simple paths rather than over complicating things.
Our PEMA wholegrain rye bread is ‘baked nature’: rye, water, natural sourdough, a little salt and nothing else. Our products are simple however their preparation is not so straight forward. Simplicity is our guide and mentor.
Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for people to eat well. PEMA’s products are nutritionally well balanced and therefore suitable for all ages. It is equally important to remember, however, that regardless of our individual health goals, PEMA bread is a culinary pleasure to be enjoyed.
We cultivate our natural sourdough in-house. It is the principal ingredient used in the traditional manufacture of our bread, making it tasty, fresh and nutritious. Our unique baking process at low temperatures, which takes twice as long as usually required, conserves the rye’s nutritional qualities.
Time is essential to the concept of Slow Food. Time helps lock in flavour whilst preserving the ingredients, linking pleasure and enjoyment with nutrition and sustenance. Slow Food has become a world-wide movement promoting social and ecological responsibility, protecting the food chain, biocultural diversity and promoting animal rights. Coupled with practical training and educational work, Slow Food helps to improve nutritional literacy in Germany: we are delighted to be a part of this movement.
